About Us

The service we provide at Mercury Wealth Management is relationship-based, and we feel that it is important for you to know with whom you will be in contact on a day-to-day basis. After all, people deal with people, not corporations.

Nigel Bourke Dip. PFS, CFP
Certified Financial Planner

Nigel is the Managing Director of Mercury Wealth Management and joined the financial services industry in 1978. After training with a large financial institution he joined a local firm of advisers and in 1982 founded independent financial advisers, Nigel Bourke & Company. The firm has now evolved into Mercury Wealth Management Limited to provide fee-based holistic financial planning services to a select group of clients.

As well as specialising in investments, for which he has won a number of national competitions, Nigel has recently qualified as one of the few affiliate members of the family lawyers’ organisation, Resolution, providing specialist advice in matters relating to pensions and divorce.

Martin McLean BA (Econs), Dip. PFS
Financial Planner
Martin joined the financial services industry in 1982. After six years working for large financial institutions, Martin spent four years with a local firm of independent financial advisers and two years with national advisers C E Heath, before joining Nigel Bourke & Company in 1994.

Martin has extensive experience in all aspects of financial planning with particular expertise in retirement options, IHT planning and Trusts.

Philip Hobby, APFS
Paraplanner
Philip joined Mercury Wealth Management in November 2008, as a Paraplanner, to provide technical and administrative support to both the company’s financial planners and clients.

Philip entered the financial services industry straight from school in 1970 and spent some thirteen years working for large financial institutions in the South of England, specialising in the administration of both large pension schemes and directors’ small self-administered schemes. In 1983 he joined a local firm of advisers and spent the next seven years working in the advisory sector before spending a further nine years managing client pensions for two large insurance companies. In 1999 he again entered the advisory sector where he has provided a variety of support services to firms of Independent Financial Advisers.

Our Admin Team
Our admin team between them have many years’ experience in the financial services industry and each has been with us for several years. We do not have a high turnover of staff and it is most likely that the relationships you build with our staff will last for many years.
