Meet the team
Although your relationship with Mercury Wealth Management is built with an adviser, you also have the support of a whole team of professionals
Chartered Financial Planner
Nigel is the Managing Director of Mercury Wealth Management and joined the financial services industry in 1978. After training with a large financial institution he joined a local firm of advisers and in 1982 founded independent financial advisers, Nigel Bourke & Company. The firm has now evolved into Mercury Wealth Management Limited to provide fee-based holistic financial planning services to a select group of clients.
As well as specialising in investments, for which he has won a number of national competitions, Nigel has recently qualified as one of the few affiliate members of the family lawyers’ organisation, Resolution, providing specialist advice in matters relating to pensions and divorce. He is also an affiliate member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) specialising in Trusts and Inheritance Tax planning.
Oliver has spent five years at an industry defining financial services firm in the City of London before joining Mercury Wealth Management as a Director. Already a qualified Financial Planner, he has his sights set on becoming a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute within the next couple of years.
As an individual who doesn’t like to waste money unnecessarily, he found himself coming up with budgeting solutions and reading into Evidence Based Investing before becoming a financial planner. Realising many of his friends were already coming to him to ask for simple financial solutions, he now gets great satisfaction advising them when they are able to retire and be totally financially secure.
Since graduating from Northumbria University with a degree in Estate Management, Oliver has pursued a further degree with the Open University studying Maths, Economics and Strategy modules.
Oliver became a ski instructor in 2008, a passion which he sadly cannot exercise as frequently as he’d like! He also enjoys travelling, reading and hopes to be able to train for his private pilot’s licence in the future.
